Lather. Rinse. Repeat. How to correctly shampoo your hair
Pour about a quarter size amount of shampoo in your hands. Rub hands together.
Start at the scalp. This is where you really want to focus on. Sebum and products can build up on the scalp very easily. This is also the oiliest part of your hair.
Gently massage the shampoo on your scalp using your fingertips. By now you should have some sort of lather going. *Note* Some shampoos wont lather but it does not mean that your hair and scalp isnt getting clean.
Do not use your fingernails. There is no need to scratch your scalp.
Gently spread the lather throughout the hair and towards the ends.
Rinse. During this step, the water will help to distribute the shampoo through the hair, cleansing it in the process.
Sometimes you may have to do the process all over again. It depends on just how much product you currently have on your hair but usually, just once will be effective.
Tips
Each time you shampoo your hair, start at a different spot. We are creatures of habit and are most likely to start at the same spot. This will lead to that spot being over cleansed and will eventually cause dryness.
Never scrub your hair. Your hair is extremely delicate and needs to be treated like fine silk.
Do use a shampoo thats free of Sulphates. Sulphates dry out your hair and can cause irritation to the scalp.
For longer, thicker hair, its best to part hair into sections and shampoo each section. This will ensure that all your hair is thoroughly cleansed and will also help to prevent tangles.
After that section is done, pin it up with a clip and move on to the next section.
Try to use a moisturizing shampoo.
